KNUT-EDVART

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Knut-Edvart.com handles information when you browse the website, use its developer tools, or send a message through the contact form. The site is operated by Knut-Edvart Ellingsen. If you have a privacy question, please use the contact form; a public email address is not required to reach me.

Information you choose to send

If you use the contact form, you provide your name, email address, subject, and message. I use that information to read and respond to your inquiry and to address any related issue. The form sends the message to my private email inbox; it does not publish your message on the website or add you to a marketing list. My hosting and email providers may process the message to deliver it. Please do not include passwords or other sensitive information in a message.

I keep contact messages for as long as reasonably needed to handle the conversation and maintain relevant records, then delete them when they are no longer needed. You can request deletion of a message through the contact form, subject to any records I need to retain for legitimate reasons.

Browser-based tools

The developer tools currently offered on this site, such as the Meta Description Counter and URL Encoder & Decoder, process the text you enter in your browser. That text is not sent to Knut-Edvart.com by those tools. This does not prevent your browser, extensions, or device from handling information according to their own settings.

Server records and cookies

When you visit the site, the web server and hosting provider may process standard technical information such as your IP address, requested pages, date and time, browser information, and error or security events. These records help deliver the website, diagnose problems, and protect it from misuse.

The contact form uses a short-lived PHP session to protect submissions, show a success or error message, and limit repeat submissions. That session may set a cookie in your browser. The form also uses a hidden field and Google reCAPTCHA v3 to help detect automated submissions. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although blocking the session cookie may prevent the contact form from working.

Google reCAPTCHA and fonts

When the contact form is enabled and you open the Contact page, Google reCAPTCHA v3 loads from Google. It may collect information about your device and interaction to assess whether a submission is automated. The site sends the resulting token to Google for verification; the name, email address, subject, and message you enter are not included in that verification request. The form cannot send a message if verification fails. Google handles information under its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

The site's design requests fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser may connect to Google to retrieve those font files and provide technical information associated with the request. Google's Privacy Policy explains how Google handles information.

Analytics and advertising

If you select “Allow analytics” in the site banner, Google Analytics may use cookies and similar identifiers to measure visits, pages viewed, approximate location, and browser or device information. The Analytics script is loaded only after you allow it. Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage; use “Analytics settings” in the footer to change it. Choosing “No thanks” prevents this site from loading Google Analytics on subsequent page views. You can also learn about Google Analytics data practices. The website does not currently display third-party ads.

In particular, if Google AdSense is added, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or other identifiers to deliver and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted. You can learn about Google's advertising technologies and controls at Google's advertising information page and Google Ads Settings. Any consent controls required for visitors in applicable regions will be provided when advertising is introduced.

External websites

Articles and research pages may link to external websites, including the publisher of my 2003 research paper. Those websites operate independently and have their own privacy practices. Please review their policies if you visit them.

Children's privacy

This website is about programming, artificial intelligence, and web development. It is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information through the contact form. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact me using the form so I can review and remove it as appropriate.

Your choices and requests

You can avoid submitting personal information by browsing the articles and using the browser-based tools without using the contact form. You can manage cookies through your browser and adjust Google's advertising choices through the links above if advertising is enabled. To ask about a message you sent, request correction or deletion, or raise another privacy concern, use the contact form. I may need enough information to locate and verify the relevant message before acting on a request.

Changes to this policy

I may revise this policy as the website changes. The current version will appear on this page with an updated date. Please check it again when new features, analytics, or advertising are added.
